The Álvaro Gómez Hurtado Foundation and the Sergio Arboleda University, with the purpose of commemorating the centenary of the birth of Dr. Álvaro Gómez Hurtado, present, in the five volumes that make up this collection, his biographical and intellectual profile and a compilation of his most relevant texts. One of the 5 volumes corresponds to an extensive biographical review of the character and his father, written by Juan Esteban Constaín.

Remembering who Álvaro Gómez was is the best tribute to his memory. It is known that his life and work contributed fundamentally to the construction of our country and our history. In doing so, we exercise a pedagogy so that the new generations learn their legacy and the previous ones do not forget it.

Perhaps his best-known facet is that of the politician, an exercise in which he acted from a very young age in positions of popular election, from councilor to senator. He was First Appointed to the Presidency of the Republic and three times a candidate for it, but his ability to do politics and influence it transcended these positions and the campaigns to run for them.

No one was more decisive, nor was any opinion taken into account more than his, when it came to making momentous decisions for the country.
