DESCRIPCIÓN
Photography in Antioquia, an extraordinary testimony organized in three broad sections that cover the regional panorama of this profession between 1848 and 2006, is the result of an applied investigation carried out by Jaime Osorio Gómez around this visual legacy that the Public Library houses and protects. The selection of works, which includes more than sixty photographers, is complemented by interesting biographical notes about them. The set allows us to travel with delight the evolution of this craft in Antioquia and verify the artistic spirit that it has contained since the first years. There are few media as related to the testimonial function as photography. Since its invention in the mid-19th century, photography has always been a truthful and reliable witness to the actions of individuals and societies. In Colombia, Antioquia has been an exemplary model regarding the conservation of its historical records. There, photographic archives have always been valued and preserved. The industries and the department have generously come to its rescue and conservation.
