With the name of Adán and Evita, María Carrizosa de Umaña baptized her funny and incisive series of traditional stories, published at the end of the last century, in which, through the daily vicissitudes of a couple from the capital, she portrays, with humor and enviable grace, the Bogota environment, its characters and the evident irruption of modernity in all spheres of the country,

including, of course, the position of women. Now many years later, from the perspective that the full insertion of women in the contemporary world gives her, her granddaughter, Camila Umaña Jimeno, undertakes the bold rediscovery of her grandmother throughout these texts, to derive from it, as she freely confesses in her introduction to this edition, a better understanding of the history of the country and of herself.
