Botero. The Invention of an Aesthetic

With the suggestive title of Botero, the invention of an aesthetic, the critic and art historian Santiago Londoño Vélez records several years of study, analysis and observation, of gathering information and interpreting the evolutionary process of the work of the great Colombian artist. Or, as he himself describes it, about "the process of invention of an aesthetic by an Antioquia painter who emerged in frankly adverse economic and cultural conditions." This is not, therefore, a biography of Botero, although the author uses data from his life when these are relevant for its interpretation. It is an excellent and accurate reconstruction of an artistic process, where the documentary aspect takes priority. An important book about a great artist.
