DESCRIPCIÓN

The renowned Chinese watercolorist, Song Xinru, is originally from Tianjing, from whose arts academy he studied and graduated in his early youth. He arrived in Colombia in 1984 and during all these years he has continued with his artistic career, always pursuing excellence in the creation of his wonderful watercolors.

After having been a professor at the National University of Colombia, today he teaches in his own studio. For years, Xinru has traveled through numerous places in Colombia, taking photographs, making sketches and collecting material to enrich his work. As a painter from an oriental country, Song discovered a new world in Colombia, full of bright and mystical colors.

He was so fascinated by it that he decided to make a large number of watercolors in which he expressed his amazement and affection for these new lands. Many of his watercolors show the nature and culture that surround the Amazon River along with many other Colombian mountain points and plains, its fauna, its flora and its landscapes.

In the years he lived here, this painter has managed to combine the style of Colombian art with the style of Chinese art, which uses and applies ink and brushes with a different technique, creating his own style, with Western and Chinese nuances. This book is a good selection of his watercolors about Colombia made over 30 years of travel and refined work.

Song Xinru has held numerous individual exhibitions and also participated in international watercolor exhibitions in different places in Latin America and Spain, receiving important awards and valuable reviews. About a thousand of his works have been acquired by collectors in Latin America, North America and Europe. Additionally, the Mexican Watercolor Museum has acquired a good number of his works, which it permanently exhibits and facilitates for international exhibitions.
