Coosalud en Pos de Tu Bienestar

The recent history of our General Social Security System in Health has been marked by many debates and public discussions about its virtues and flaws. It is common to find diametrically opposed positions, and figures and results from research are usually presented to reinforce one position or another regarding balances and outcomes. There is also intense discussion, not only in Colombia but in many countries around the world, about the best way to organize healthcare systems, and we can find abundant literature and various proposals on this topic. However, sometimes these discussions prevent us from clearly seeing the purpose of a healthcare system; we frequently forget who we are doing all this for. Public policies sometimes get lost in a technocratic sea that obscures the human dimension of the processes. Therefore, it is of singular importance that this book presents another perspective. Through narratives from the experiences of the people who participated in and were protagonists of the development of the healthcare system in Colombia, their achievements, difficulties, and anecdotes are linked, and the evolution of the health sector in the country is shown.
