ARTIFACTS. Colombian crafts from Andes to the Amazon.
Due to its privileged geographical position on the continent, its climatic variety and its ethnic diversity, Colombia is a country immensely rich in artisanal production. There craftsmanship is the living testimony of its cultural heritage. In this book, Liliana Villegas and Benjamín Villegas have managed to collect and capture more than 500 years in images of artifacts that have accompanied the development of national culture, from pre-Hispanic times to the present day. Ritual objects, tools, furniture, jewelry, baskets, hammocks, hats and many more, whose originality endures thanks to the wisdom decanted from a long tradition and the use of noble materials that, such as wood or clay, stone or metal , the seed, the fiber or the leather, man has transformed it in a thousand and one ways throughout its history. This book also represents a tribute to the artisans of Colombia, to that hard-working community that transforms the materials that its environment provides and turns them into useful and beautiful objects for society.
