Bogotá: 1913 – 2013 Ways of making the City

$245,000.00

DESCRIPCIÓN

This extraordinary volume, generously illustrated with images and plans, presents a broad chronological overview of the urban transformation of Bogotá in the last century.

Throughout its pages, the author, Alberto Saldarriaga Roa, an architect specialized in the subject of urban planning, details the evolution of the modes of construction and social organization of the Colombian capital, while highlighting several of the important solutions of popular housing, helping us understand the complex dynamics that accompany the growth of our cities.

Supported both by the historic panchromatic aerial photographs of the Agustín Codazzi Geographic Institute and by its valuable orthophotomaps, from 1936 to today, the work offers and comments on specific examples of urban complexes—without a doubt, the type of construction preferred by the city—both at the time when construction work began and in its current state. Likewise, some of the regulations that have accompanied many of the urban development processes illustrated here are described and transcribed. Finally, the book dedicates a special section to various projects of the Amarilo firm, manager of important and innovative macroprojects in the country.
