This is not merely another thematic selection of paintings by Fernando Botero, the great Colombian artist whose work has traveled, like no other before him, the most diverse stages of the planet. This is a new series of 180 paintings, 50 of which are unpublished, grouped for the first time in a book, chosen by Botero himself, accompanied by four acetate inserts, also prepared exclusively by the artist and preceded by an extraordinary essay by Mexican writer Carlos Fuentes on the painter's work. As this book shows, the robust and graceful female figures that primarily populate Botero's pictorial universe manage to transcend the limits of the canvas to become paradigms of a very special aesthetic vision.
