What this book proposes, without dogmatism but also without hesitation, is to make immediate and truthful the understanding of the transformations that after the advent of the Republic occurred in Colombian domestic architecture applied after 1819. Both in its constructive forms and its functionality as in the exterior and decorative character of its wood, in public and private buildings our architecture, by breaking with the ideas and schemes of the Hispanic tradition, produces an evident metamorphosis in the fundamental aspects that constitute the general tone of its development .
