Anthology of Colombia X6 — Books April to May
Anthology of Colombia
Books from April to May
Six titles to start a library on the visual memory of the country
For more than five decades, Villegas Editores has built, book by book, one of the most important visual archives on Colombia. Through its illustrated publications, generations of readers have been able to get closer to the art, landscapes, customs, regions, nature, and cultural expressions that make up the country's richness.
Anthology of Colombia was born with the purpose of bringing this work together again in a collection designed to endure, grow, and be inherited. A library that seeks to recover some of the most representative titles published by the editorial and make them available to new readers in a more accessible, practical, and collectible format.
With the appearance of these first six titles, the collection, which will publish 3 new titles each month, begins to trace a broad journey through different ways of looking at and understanding Colombia: from painting and photography to traditional cuisine, birds, popular celebrations, and the great landscapes of the territory.
The titles published so far are:
Luis Caballero. Homenaje / Homage
An approach to the life and work of one of the most important artists of the Colombian 20th century, accompanied by texts by Antonio Caballero.
Colombia, dreams and adventures
The sensitive and contemplative journey of Andrés Hurtado García through some of the most extraordinary landscapes of Colombia.
The flavor of Colombia
An exploration of the traditional cuisines of the country and the cultural stories that inhabit its recipes and regions.
Pedro Ruiz
A look at the work of one of the great contemporary Colombian artists, where memory, territory, and imagination build a poetic vision of the country.
Birds in Colombia
A visual journey through the extraordinary diversity of birds that makes Colombia one of the richest territories on the planet in biodiversity.
Festivities, Celebrations and Rituals of Colombia
A visual documentation of the popular traditions, celebrations, and cultural manifestations that continue to shape the Colombian collective identity.
Each volume preserves the visual and documentary spirit of the original editions, but now appears in a medium, bilingual format, more accessible and easy to integrate into a family, personal, or institutional library.
Anthology of Colombia is not conceived as a series of independent books, but as a collection that will grow month by month to build a great editorial memory about the country. A library to better know Colombia, share it with others, and preserve it over time.
Because there are works that should not be lost, and generations that still deserve to discover them.
Luis Caballero. Homenaje / Homage
A journey through the life and work of one of the great Colombian artists of the 20th century, with text by Antonio Caballero.
Colombia, dreams and adventures
Photographs and texts by Andrés Hurtado García, one of the great travelers, hikers, and observers of Colombian nature.
The flavor of Colombia
One of the most complete and documented cookbooks on the traditional cuisines of the country, organized as a journey through its great regions.
The illustrated books by Villegas Editores constitute one of the broadest, most positive, and unrepeatable graphic documents on Colombian culture of the last fifty years. This collection will allow them to be gathered, consulted together, and preserved as a living memory of the country.
Older generations know something about these topics; their children know less, and their grandchildren, in many cases, practically nothing. But everyone deserves to approach the most valuable of Colombia to be able to understand it, care for it, defend it, and transmit it.
That is why Anthology of Colombia is not conceived as a series of loose books, but as a collection worth starting from the beginning and completing month by month.
It is a library to form, preserve, and inherit. A concrete way to leave children and grandchildren a printed, beautiful, and lasting testimony of the best of Colombia.
