Sonnets of Love and Pain

"I just had the certain feeling that if I lived again, I would write again all the sonnets that appear here and all the verses that I have written throughout my life, in the same order in which they arose and without changing a comma. I feel like my whole life would revolve around them, with much more strength and light than this time, but the same." Thus, in a game that interweaves the recognizable boundaries of life and death, the poet Mario Ochoa describes his playful experience of a rebirth in the midst of his own poetry.

Guided by a fierce intuition and stimulated by an early devotion to reading, Mario Ochoa turned very early in his life towards literature and music. In the seventies he fell in love with rock, a field in which he stood out as a singer, composer and director. But he also studied economics, completed a valuable postgraduate degree at Cornell and served as a senior international official. In 1987 he decided to devote himself fully to poetry, becoming part of the generation of Colombian poets after the Nadaísta movement.

Surely these poems, perhaps unknown until now to many, are going to be a pleasant surprise and a happy discovery.
