Birds in Colombia
Also available in Spanish under the title:Birds in Colombia
Undoubtedly the most outstanding feature of the privileged Colombian nature is its biodiversity. And within that biodiversity, birds ranked first. In addition, in this field the country may become the richest in the world, with a number of species close to 2000.
One reason for this is that it is a tropical country, and in the tropics the climatic variety favors the development of numerous habitats, where the species that suit them settle. The almost unlimited topography of the country, combined with an enviable endowment of rivers, becomes another stimulus to this diversity that, in Colombia, is accompanied by a generalized beauty of its specimens, both in plumage and color, as well as in size, trill and other traits. However, this wealth has been hit hard and its future seriously threatened. Therefore, it is urgent to make the protection of this fauna a national priority. In a world increasingly committed to the defense of its resources, Colombia cannot be the exception.
