Colombia in Le Tour du Monde. 1858 - 1898
At a time when trips to places considered exotic captivated the European imagination, Le Tour du Monde , the successful French weekly that appeared between 1860 and 1914, published generously illustrated stories about these types of journeys and adventures. Colombia was part of its repertoire with a total of 52 fascicles about the country. The first, Voyages aux Indes by Anthony Trollope, was published in 1860; the last, Chez les Indiens du Nord by Joseph de Brettes, in 1898. This extraordinary edition, in Spanish, by Villegas Editores, which entirely respects the original design, completely reproduces the content and illustrations that the weekly published about Colombia, carries a well-versed prologue by Pablo Navas Sanz de Santamaría, a great expert on the subject.
